Thick fog that turns it into a mystery land, cool breeze that gives a chill and also the thrill of experiencing the hot beverages, and the rains that clears the thick fog cover to unravel the vast lush green landscapes that seems never ending are just a few reasons why you should head to Coorg—The Scotland of India—during the mesmerizing monsoon of Coorg.

While the trekkers & bikers show their daredevilry by soaking themselves in the rains that lash from every side throughout the day, the nature lovers seek tranquility in this mesmerizing place.

The best part is you can experience the Monsoons right in the heart of the Madikeri town in the famous tourist attraction, Raja’s Seat. Chilling cold and intermittent rain don’t seem to scare enthusiastic parents from bringing their infants and kids to enjoy the nature. Foggy conditions and cold weather make Raja’s Seat a perfect spot for the beloved ones to share the warmth of friendship and love. Such is the power of Mother Nature in Coorg, especially so during monsoons.

It goes without saying that the Abbey Falls (also known as Abbi Falls) attracts tourists like no other place in Coorg. Abbey falls is around 8 km from the Madikeri town and has relatively good roads. The steps leading down to the waterfalls nourishes your senses as you see coffee plantation on either side with sky-kissing silver trees that are soaked in the fog. The intermittent rains add to this beauty as they turn these surrounding into a fairyland.

As you climb down the steps, in the distance you’d already be hearing the roar of the waterfalls as the water gushes down from 70 feet high jagged rock. You’d be able to feel the force of the water from far away.

The stark contrast of the dark rocks and the bright white water is complimented by the lush green foliage making it a photographer’s delight. It’s a heaven for selfies. Smartphones sticking out of the selfie stick amidst the rain is a common sight here. Tourists seem to hardly care about the rains as they are busy creating beautiful memories with the beloved ones.

Another interesting thing about Abbey waterfalls is that due to the unique jagged rock structure it forms several mini waterfalls as the water cascades down. Next time you go there, don’t forget to enjoy these mini waterfalls and the beautiful lush greenery surrounding the Abbey falls.

After an exhilarating day, you can pay your visit to the Omkareshwara Temple, which is in the heart of Madikeri town. It’s one of the most picturesque locations with breathtaking architecture. It’s worth visiting this place and offering prayers after a busy, adventurous day as it is open in the evening until 8 pm.
